[Class 74 (ii)] The draw mechanism of a straight-bar machine comprises the draw cam 10, a member 12 reciprocated by the cam 10 and guided for movement in a straight line, a second reciprocable member 24 moving in a path parallel to that of the member 12, a draw lever 18 for transmitting the movement of the member 12 to the member 24 and. connected to each of the members 12, 24 by a cross-head device. Each cross-head device consists of a slide block 21 projecting from the draw lever and received and guided in a vertical slot 23 in the member 12 or 24. The rubbing faces of the block 21 or the antifriction material. The member 24 is connected to the slur cock tie bar or to a thread slot 23 are provided with brasses or other carrier rod, or to both. One draw mechanism may be provided for driving the slur cock or cocks, a second may be arranged to drive the main thread carrier or carriers and a third mechanism may be provided for a plating- thread carrier or carriers.
