Abstract

553,419. Knitting-machines. BLACKBURN & SONS, Ltd., G., START, H. W., and START, E. Feb. 5, 1942, No. 1513. [Class 74 (ii)] To facilitate transfer of the loops of the first course from the needles to the welt hooks and the return of the loops to the needles, means are provided for moving the picot points so that they can be lowered into engagement with the needles in the normal knitting position. In one form, the picot points A are carried by an arm C having a set screw engaging a shaft H mounted eccentrically in bearings so that rotation of the shaft adjusts the points at right angles to the line of needles. The shaft H can be rotated manually or under control of stops upon a pattern drum. In another form, the point bar B has a projection B<SP>1</SP> engaging in a cam slot P<SP>1</SP> in a longitudinally movable bar P. The bar P can be moved either by a hand-operated lever and rack and pinion, or by a flexible cable and lever actuated by a cam on the main shaft.
