Abstract
553,321. Medical capsules. OWEN, H. W. Dec. 10, 1941, No. 15950. Addition to 505,138. [Class 81 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] The closure of the gelatine or like capsule of the parent Specification is effected by a moulded plug 10 of gelatine or the like which fits into or over the neck 11 of the capsule body 1 and is sealed thereto by softening the edges of the plug or of the capsule body immediately before the plug is applied to the body; the removable cap 14 carrying the pin is directly applied to the plug and as shown, the plug is extended to form a long flexible neck 9 so that liquid can be injected into an aperture. A wad of cotton wool 12 inserted in the plug before the latter is applied to the capsule, constitutes a filter and serves to support the plug during the. softening of its edges and the application thereof to the capsule body.
