Parenteral injection equipment comprises a container for holding solution under partial vacuum and a medicament phial with a discharge cap which can be inserted through the stopper of the solution container for adding medicament to the solution. The solution container comprises a glass jar 19, Fig. 1, provided with a rubber stopper 12 having two apertures sealed by a rubber diaphragm 14 and retained by a metal seal 15. When the solution is to be used the diaphragm 14 is perforated at 14a, 14b and a discharge tube is inserted in the aperture 13 so that, when the jar is inverted, the liquid passes out through the discharge tube while air enters through the internal tube 16. The separate medicament container comprises a glass phial 20, Fig. 2, provided with a rubber diaphragm 24 retained by a cap 21 having a pointed tubular nozzle. The diaphragm is provided with a central aperture 25 of sufficiently small diameter to ensure that contained liquid medicament 26 cannot escape through it if the phial is inverted with the protective cap 22 removed. However, if the nozzle is pushed through the sealing diaphragm 14, Fig. 1, at 14a, so as to seal against the walls of the orifice 13, the medicament is drawn out of the phial into the container 19 under the influence of the vacuum therein. Powders may be similarly added to the parenteral solution by using a phial which has no "valved" diaphragm.
