Abstract
549,430. Token apparatus for railway traffic control. TYER & CO., Ltd., and KING, V. S. Oct. 23, 1941, No. 13632. [Class 105] In a token system for railway traffic control in which a commutator preparing electric circuits is rotated through 180 degrees from either of its " normal " positions when a token is inserted in or removed from the magazine, as in Specification 23417/12, [Class 105], means are provided to prevent an operation of the ringing key, which would be ineffective, if the commutator has not been fully rotated 180 degrees. As shown the commutator 1 has a locking device 4, biased by spring 5, moved clockwise by the segment 9 of token 3 during the rotation but returned to the locking position shown when the commutator is in either of its normal positions, this return being prevented by segment 9 when in an intermediate position. Clockwise movement of member 4 slides a bolt 7 into the path of a collar 6 on the ringing key 2, operation of which is thus prevented unless the commutator is in normal position, permitting return movement of the bolt to the left by cam action of collar 6 on the bolt end when key 2 is operated. The arrangement shown also locks the commutator against movement whilst the key is in operated position.
