Abstract

548,844. Hinges. LIDIN, S. E., and RICKARD, E. July 17, 1941, No. 9068. [Class 65 (ii)] A hinge for a window which is pivoted on a horizontal axis at the middle of the stiles comprises a plate 4 fixed to each stile 2 and pivoted at 10 to a link 5 which is pivoted at 6 to a plate 3 on the window frame 1. During the first part of the opening of the window, the sash 2 and the link 5 turn together about 6, the link being carried along by a flange 13 on the plate 4. When the link engages an adjustable stop 15 on the frame 1 the sash then turns alone on the pivot 10. The pivot 6 carries friction washers 8 and a spring washer 9 to check the movement about the pivot.
