Abstract
548,182. Thermal switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 1, 1941, No. 8261. Convention date, July 5, 1940. [Class 38 (v)] The contact 22 on a flexible arm 11 secured on one side of a rigid contact arm 10, is separated from contact 21 at a predetermined temperature, by the bending of a bimetal strip 12 secured on the other side, causing an adjustable stud 18 to bear against an abutment 24. In the example this is done through an aperture 23 in the rigid arm. The various strips are secured with insulating spacers 19, 20 against a metal support 13, by a screw 14 the end-nut 31 on which has a conducting button 30 adapted to bear against the vessel the temperature of which is to be controlled, for example a pail 40 in an insulated well 34 on the top of an electric range.
