863,041. Thermal switches. SIGNAL-STAT CORPORATION. May 29, 1958 [June 6, 1957], No. 17221/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XIII] An element, especially for a thermal flasher, consists of a spring metal sheet of, for example, rectangular, circular or semi-circular shape, formed with a closed-end slot 16 extending along and parallel to one edge so as to provide a narrow strip 20 and a larger main body 21. The latter is deformed into a shallow V-shape and fixed at the apex of the V, and the sheet is heated by current passing through it, the relative expansion between the two parts of the sheet causing the latter to snap over centre and actuate contacts, Figs. 6-9 (not shown). Specification 761,713 is referred to.
