Abstract

547,961. Resilient mountings. STRAUSSLER, N. April 1, 1941, No. 4372. (Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIV] Consists in resilient mountings for frames carrying machines such as petrol engines, electricity generators &c. The engine &c. is mounted on a sub-frame 8 which is mounted in the main frame 2 either by a fourpoint or a three-point support. Each half of Fig. 2 shows one of the methods of mounting. As shown on the left-hand side, a torsion spring 1 is rigidly secured, at about its mid-point, to a lug 3 on the main frame, the free ends of the spring being rotatably carried by bearing 4, 5 on the main frame. To these free ends are secured arms 6,7 which are pivoted to the sub-frame at 9, 10. This arrangement is duplicated on the other side of the frame. As shown on the right-hand side, a three-point suspension is obtained by.pivoting the sub-frame in the main. frame at 12, and supporting the other end by an L-shaped torsion-spring arrangement, in which the spring 15 is held at 17, passes through a bearing 18 and is bent round at 19 to form an arm with pivotal connection 21 to the sub-frame. This latter part is again duplicated.
