[Class 112] Differential feed.-In a machine in which the work is fed by a feed dog and the sewing-needle, a supplementary feed foot is given a feed motion which may be more or less than the main feed. The needle-bar 19, in a two needle machine, reciprocates in a frame 23 mounted, for oscillation in the line of feed, on a pivot 24. The frame is actuated in unison with the feed dog 34 in known manner. A supplementary feed foot 36 is carried by a rod 66 slidingly mounted in a frame 67 pivoted at 82 upon the needle-bar frame 23. The frame 67 has an extension 85 having a pivotal sliding connection with a bar 88, and the inclination of the bar causes a differential movement of the frame 67 as the frame 23 oscillates. The.bar 88 is carried by a yoke 89 held in a clamp 91 and by altering the inclination of the bar the differential movement can be varied. The presser-foot comprises two feet 55, one for each needle, and between them there is a supplementary foot 58 pivoted at 59 on a part 56, secured to the presser bar and pressed on to the work by a spring 60.
