Abstract
547,029. Composition fuel. FRASER, R. P., and BLYTHE, G. E. K. Oct. 16, 1940, No. 15351. [Class 50] A mixture of liquid and pulverized fuel is prepared by mixing coal of a fineness such that 100 per cent. passes a screen of 300 mesh, and while still hot from the pulverization, with a mineral oil, and a liquid of coal tar distillate origin, especially one containing cresol, indene, or pyridine, the powdered coal being 40-50 per cent of the mixture. When coal particles 100 per cent below 5 microns are used, stability is obtained without consideration of the type of coal or oil used. Retort tar, creosote, creosote oils, or coal tar naphtha, commercial cresylic acid or wood tar acid are referred to as suitable liquids of coal tar distillate origin. The addition of cyclohexanol as a viscosity reducer permits a further addition of coal to be made.
