Abstract

545,089. Filtering gases. CHEMA MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and SIGMUND, M. Nov. 8, 1940, No. 16275. [Class 8 (ii)] Gas to be filtered enters an axial duct 3 closed at the end. and passes radially through a body of filtering material,e.g. activated carbon enclosed between perforated annular walls one or both of which is tapered so that the radial thickness traversed increases from the inlet end. The material is packed by a spring-pressed circumferentially ribbed plate 18, centrally dished to fit over the plate 11 closing the inlet duct, and spacing means 17 are provided fitting over the flange 21 of the plate 18.
