Abstract

544,479. Lathes. NICHOLSON, V. R. July 27, 1940, No. 12240. [Class 83 (iii)] A lathe comprises a base B carrying a headstock pillar C and a pillar A secured to or integral with a housing E for a turret F which carries a forward steady H for a number of tool bars G arranged parallel to the spindle axis. The pillars A, C, may be connected at the top by a stay N or by a bed carrying additional tools. The tool bar at the operative station may be fed by a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder K. For form boring the turret is unlocked and the operative tool bar is controlled by a former J fixed to the turret housing and engaged by a follower M on the tool bar. The Provisional Specification refers to Specification 544,306.
