Abstract

543,921. Moulding sponge rubber. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO. Dec. 16, 1940, No. 17705. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1939. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A device for making cushion halves comprises a moulding pan 51 with thin fins 60, and a cover 52 with a number of coring elements 57 contacting with channel forming elements 59. Foamed rubber latex is placed in the pan and the cover is placed in position over dowel pins 56. Entrapped air escapes through vent holes in the cover. The latex is caused or allowed to set, and the resulting sponge rubber is vulcanized and removed from the device.
