922,871. Contact lenses. MUELLER WELT CONTACT LENSES Inc. Aug. 16, 1960 [Aug. 19, 1959], No. 28425/60. Class 97 (1). A corneal contact lens is made of a soft material for example a transparent silicone rubber, in particular a hydrocarbon substituted polysiloxane rubber mixed with a suitable filler. The lens may be formed in a mould shaped so that the concave side of the lens has projections 8 formed on at least an outer rim of the lens forming ducts so that liquid may reach a central pool 10 and the convex side has small depressions 11 all over it to prevent drops of liquid forming on that surface. The projections 8 may be random or arranged in a particular pattern. Alternatively the smooth rim of the lens may have channels cut in it leading to pool 10.
