Abstract

543,678. Multiple fastenings. THOMPSON (DUDLEY), Ltd., J., and LEVERICK, F. Sept. 3, 1940, No. 13770. [Class 44] [ALso in Group XVIII] A manhole cover 7 is provided with a fluidtight bearing 17 for a screwed spindle 9 having thrust collars 18, 19 to prevent axial movement. An internally threaded member 26 carries three pivoted arms such as 21 connected by a link 27 to the cover at 24. The end of the arm 21 engages an abutment 4 on the wall 1, so that by rotation of either handle 11, 12 the cover is drawn on to its seating. The arms 21 are located in correct position to engage the abutments 4 by means of pins 16 engaging apertured lugs 6.
