Abstract
541,608. Discharging retorts WEST, Sir F. J., WEST, E., and WEST'S GAS IMPROVEMENT CO., Ltd. Sept. 14, 1940, No. 14192. [Class 51 (ii)] An oscillatory coke extractor for vertical retorts comprises a base or step d upon which the coke at the base of the retort a rests when the extractor is in its service position, a riser or vertical wall e which, when the extractor is in its service position, constitutes a continuation downward to the base or step of a wall g of the retort and a cut-off plate f extending rearward from the top of the riser in the form of part of a cylinder having its axis at the extractor axis c. The extractor is moved about the axis c when it is desired to discharge coke into the coke chamber b to the position shown in dotted lines, and is moved still further in the same direction when it is desired to permit access to the retort of rods through a door n, Pivoted plates i prevent fall of coke from the extractor while it is in its service position.
