Abstract

540,395. Snap fastenings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 21, 1940, No. 10694. Convention date, July 13, 1939. [Class 44] A fastening device for securing a slotted moulding strip 3 to a support 2 comprises a tubular shank slotted to provide two pairs of opposed tongues 12; 13 outwardly bent to adapt them for snap engagement with the support 2 and moulding 3, respectively. The tongues 12 have outwardly bent ends 16 to limit inward movement when the device is inserted in an aperture 7 in the support. The tongues 12 snap into engagement with the edges of the aperture with the ends 16 bearing against the face of the support and the tongues 13 upstanding therefrom. The requisite number of devices is thus applied to the support and the moulding strip then pressed into place, tongues 13 snapping into engagement with the inturned edges 4, 5 of the moulding. One of the slots between adjacent fingers may extend the full length of the device, to increase resilience.
