540,062. Sodium cyanide. SOC. ANON. LA FLORIDIENNE J. BUTTGENBACH & CO. May 13, 1940, No. 8586. Convention date, June 16, 1939. [Class 1 (ii)] Crystals of sodium cyanide NaCN.2H 2 O are obtained by treating sodium hydroxide monohydrate in crystalline form with hydrocyanic acid in the gaseous or liquefied state while cooling and stirring. A small amount of caustic soda in solution may also be present. The cyanide crystals may be dehydrated by heating in vacuo to 40-70‹ C.
