Abstract

549,841. Sodium percarbonate. LAPORTE, Ltd., B., and WOOD, W. S. Sept. 12, 1941, No. 11685. [Class 1 (iii)] Sodium percarbonate is obtained by reacting hydrogen peroxide with sodium carbonate decahydrate crystals or with a suspension of the decahydrate in a saturated solution of sodium carbonate. Stabilizers may be added, e.g. sodium silicate, magnesium salts and the free flowing properties of the product may be improved by the addition of alkali metaphosphate or pyrophosphate. Common salt is added to the reaction mixture to ensure the precipitation of the sodium percarbonate which may be separated by filtration.
