Abstract
540,003. Closures for medicinal containers. ANTIDOLOR MANUFACTURING CO., Inc. Feb. 19, 1941, No. 2286. Convention date, May 21, 1940. [Class 125 (iii)] A medicinal container or bottle 1 has stopper 8 made of soft pliable material such as rubber having a deep annular recess 18 on its under side so that a central projection 10a is left. This provides an entry 8a for air, a constriction 9, an air filter chamber 10 containing some sterilizing material and a triangular cut slit 11 at the end which forms a valve. The.outer face of the stopper has a ring 13 round the central opening 8a, and outside this ring is an other 15 only slightly raised from the surface. When the stopper is inserted in the bottle mouth it may be held in place by a screw cap and a seal effected between the ring 13 and the liner of the cap. The constriction 9 is produced by the pressure exerted by the cap or may be produced in the formation of the stopper. For use, the bottle is inverted and the cap removed; the needle 22 of the syringe is thrust through the stopper between the rings 13, 15 and as liquid is withdrawn, air passes in through the filter chamber 10 and the cut valve 11.
