Abstract
539,700. Shuttleless looms. CROMPTON & KNOWLES LOOM WORKS. Dec. 13, 1939, Nos. 32144 and 32145. Convention dates, Sept. 2 and Nov. 1. [Class 142 (ii)] Operating weft-inserters.- The weft needle 16 is secured to a carriage 15 sliding in a guide 14 and operated through a cable C and lever 25 from a shaft 20. Each part of the cable (or two separate cables) passes round fixed pulleys 61, 63, 65 or 66, 68, 70 and pulleys 60, 62, 64 or 67, 69, 71 carried by the lever 25 and has its end secured to the framing at 56 or 57, or to the lever 25 as shown in Fig. 9. The lever 25 has a floating pivot 26 and is connected by a link 38 to a fixed pivot 39 so that the pulleys 60 &c. will move in a straight line. The lever 25 is operated by an eccentric 102 mounted on a shaft 93 which rotates round the shaft 20 and is also rotated by the sun and planet gears 95, 94 which cause the weft needle to have a longer dwell when out of the shed than when in it.
