538,778. Valves. CROFTON & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., C., and MANN, R. W. March 26,1940, No. 5454. [Class 135] A plug cock particularly adapted for controlling the supply of air to pneumatic tools used in dusty situations has a cylindrical filter 10 supported by a spider 12 in the outlet pipe and has the cock body provided with a byepass passage 20 leading to the part of the outlet pipe beyond the filter. When the plug is turned to bring an extension 26 of the main plug passage 24 opposite the byepass port 20 air from the inlet 28 passes in the backward direction through the strainer, such air escaping to atmosphere through a passage 34 in the casing and radial and axial passages 30, 32 in the plug.
