538,745. Conveyers. REDLER, A. Feb. 26, 1940, No. 10726. Divided out cf 538,660. [Class 78 (i)] In a conveyer for powdered or granular material comprising an endless chain or equivalent 18 which carries transverse flight members 19 and extends in two parallel runs over a pair of sprockets or the like 16, 17, the operative run is enclosed in a substantially horizontal trunk 12 formed with inlet and outlet openings 20, 21 and having such a crosssection that the thickness T of the space within the trunk is less than half the width W measured parallel to the axes of the sprockets. The flights 19 may be of plate or skeleton form and may fold back upon the chain 18 on the inoperative run. Alternative inlets and outlets 20a, 21a may be provided, the latter being fitted with a shutter 22. In a modification, a pair of chains are connected by flight members each consisting of a circular rod or of a tilted strip. Specifications 524,221 and 538,660 are referred to.
