Abstract

538,200. Master control of motors. FERGUSON, A. D., and METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 23, 1940, Nos. 1409 and 7123. [Class 38 (iii)] Individual contactors are operated pneumatically, their valves being actuated in correct sequence by a cam shaft rotated by a servomotor 8 under the control of a master-controller. The cam shaft can make two complete rotations by imparting to it an axial motion so that the cams move in a helical path. A drum 26 causes the cam shaft to advance from "off" to first series," " full series " and " full parallel position according to the position of the mastercontroller and under the control of a current limit relay, notching being obtained by opening and closing an electromagnetically actuated oil valve 22. Overload causes time switches to be opened and the cam shaft to be returned to " off " position.
