Abstract

291,869. James, H. V., and Stevens, A. H. March 9, 1927. Controllers, actuating; controllers, multiple rocking-bar.-In apparatus for effecting seriesshunt control of electric motors, a solenoid 16 rocks a shaft 13 on which is mounted a partconcentric cam 9 for closing a group of series contactors 1, and a separate member 15 for opening a group of shunt contactors 2. Each group of contactors moves as a whole, the separate contactors being adjusted to come on and off in sequence by means of screws 28, 8. After all the series contactors have been closed, the concentric part of the cam holds, them against spring pressure and further rocking movement of the shaft opens the shunt contactors in sequence. The shaft may carry additional cams for operating additional groups of contactors. A dash-pot 24 retards the operation.
