Means for cutting off the supply of fuel to a diesel-engined vehicle comprises a relay 16 coupled to the auxiliary switch 9 of the vehicle, and a motor 11 controlled by the relay 16, the motor 11 having combined therewith limit switch 17, 18, 19 ensuring that when auxiliary switch 9 is closed motor 11 assumes one position in which it opens a valve in the fuel supply system of the vehicle, and when auxiliary switch 9 is opened motor 11 assumes a second position in which it closes the valve to cut off the supply of fuel. As shown, when switch 9 is closed relay 16 is energized completing a circuit from battery 12 through motor 11, contact 13, contact 15, contact 18 and contact 19. Motor 11 rotates opening the fuel supply valve and at the same time moving contact 19 which rotates with the shaft of motor 11 until at the instant when the valve is fully open contact 19 engages contact 17 breaking the motor circuit. When switch 9 is opened relay 16 is de-energized completing a circuit from battery 12 through motor 11, contact 13, contact 14, contact 17 and contact 19 so that motor 11 rotates to close the valve, moving contact 19 so that as the valve closes contact 19 moves into engagement with contact 18 breaking the motor circuit. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown) the limit switch is a single pole changeover switch 32, 33, 34 operated by a cam driven by the motor and the relay has two sets of changeover contacts, one set 25, 27, 28 short-circuiting the motor to brake the motor to prevent it over-running.
