Abstract
536,681. Glucose. CORN PRODUCTS REFINING CO., and POLLAK, J. E. Sept. 8, 1939, No. 25446. Addition to 528,258. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 27, 1940.] Drawings to Specification. [Class 127] In obtaining crystalline glucose by converting starch with aoid, and neutralizing, purifying and concentrating the conversion liquors, the yield of glucose is increased by depolymerizing the polysaccharoses in the converted liquor by addition of acid to the liquor after the neutralization and before crystallization is complete. The acid may be added to the liquor in the second vacuum pan in which the concentration is effected and in which a temperature of 150 - 158 F. is maintained. The process is particularly applicable where high density starch suspensions, e.g. of 12- 18‹ BÚ are converted. Specifications 227,140, 232,160, 290,847, 303,142, [all in Class 127], and 489,937 are referred to.
