536,081. Life-saving and protective garments. MORNER, H. G. March 21, 1940, No. 5306. Convention date, Sept. 13, 1939. [Class 1411 A life-saving and protective suit of the overall type having a front or side opening extending from the neck to the crotch and closable by means of interlocking tongued and grooved rubber strips closable by slide members, is, according to the invention, further provided at the opening and beneath the rubber strips with a sliding clasp fastener. The suit is made of rubber or similar water and gas tight fabric, and comprises a jacket portion 1, padded at 6 with kapok &c. integral trouser portions 4, and an elastic collar 5, and the front opening 7 being closable by interlocking tongued and grooved rubber strips 8, 9 extending. from the base of the collar 5 to the crotch. These strips are adapted to be closed by a runner slide 17 operable by a yoke piece 21 and provided with rollers 18 which engage recesses 20 on the outer edges of the strips. Further closing slides each comprising a bent metal strip 22 operable by a yoke piece 24 may be used, and these slides may be independently operated or may be linked together by chains for simultaneous operation. Beneath the strips 8, 9 the front opening is fitted with a sliding clasp fastener 25, 26, 27 which extends to the top of the collar 5. If the suit is to be used' as a protection against gas, it is fitted with a gastight cap and a gas mask.
