534,467. Variable pitch propellers. GIBBS, P. B. Aug. 5, 1939, No. 22761. [Class 114] In variable pitch gear of the kind in which each blade root carries a bevel wheel pinion D meshing with a crown wheel, the latter is helically splined on a main sleeve G straight splined on the propeller shaft A. The rear portion of the sleeve G is journalled with an outer concentric primary sleeve H splined to the crank case L, L'. The sleeve H together with the sleeve G is moved axially to vary the pitch by means of worm gear K, L operated from the cockpit of the air plane.
