Abstract
534,156. Toothbrushes. PANDIYAN, A. J. Aug. 28, 1939, No. 24693. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts. March 15, 1940.] [Classes 19 and 61 (i)] A tooth brush is provided with a detachable bristle tuft which may be a sliding or tapering fit as in Figs. 1, 2, 10 or a threaded or bayonet attachment. In another modification, this tift is held in a split handle A as in Fig. 9. The bristle tuft may consist of fibrous wood treated at one end to form bristles and at the other left solid to fit into the handle. Fibrous woods such as palms, bamboo, margosa, acacia arabica, banyan and pandanus are mentioned as suitable. Ordinary bristles may be used having one end dipped into a setting agent such as rubber, sealing wax, natural or artificial resin or celluloid. In the case of rubber an electric current may be passed through a solution to make rubber particles stick to the bottom end of the bristles. Bristles formed from wood may be enclosed in a cap of rubber, celluloid, artificial resin or metal to prevent change in size due to climatic change. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 25798/02 and 22213/13, [both in Class 19].
