Abstract
532,604. Tubular heat exchangers. LEACH, C. H. Sept. 11, 1939, No. 25550. [Class 64 (iii)] In a heat exchanger intended particularly for cooling and con densing hot petroleum vapour, the cooling medium flows through groups of tubes 13, 14 connected to a fixed header 16 divided by partitions 17, 18 and tc two floating headers 11 12, and the vapour flows through a casing 15 around the tubes frorr an inlet 44 to an outlel 45 on an enlarged part of the casing around the floating headers. A baffle 46 between the headers and tube groups directs the vapour through two passes containing the tube groups. The cylindrical section 15 and the enlarged section of the casing may be welded or bolted together. The baffle may consist of a rectangular plate bolted to inwardly projecting ribs on the casing. The headers 11, 12 are guided and held in position by ribs 49, 48 on the casing and baffle.
