Abstract

531,268. Piezo-electric crystals; filter circuits. GARDINER, E. L., and SIMMONDS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, Ltd. July 4, 1939, No. 19448. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A piezo-electric crystal holder comprises an insulating plate 12 in two apertures of which are mounted piezo-electric crystals 17, 18 between a common electrode 19 and individual electrodes 20, 21. Mounted on a rotatable spindle 26 is a semicircular metal plate 25 which, with electrodes 20, 21, forms a differential condenser. Plate 25 is connected to electrode 19 by means of the spindle 26 and a screw washer 32. Each pair of electrodes may embrace a group of crystals. Fig. 4 shows a filter network employing a two-crystal holder in which adjustment of electrode 25 enables a desired value of capacity to be connected across either of the crystals 40, 41.
