Abstract

530,715. Bomb fuzes. DUNCAN, W. O. (AktieboLaget Tolfvan Osakeyhtio). June 29, 1939, No. 18931. [Class 9 (i)] A fuze safety device for aerial bombs comprises a tail member 2 which is released by air pressure during flight to pull on a cord 7 connected to a sleeve 10 which retains balls 14 having locking engagement with a groove 13 in the striker 12. The sleeve 10, on rising, releases the balls 14 and the striker 12 can then move forward on impact to fire the bomb. The member 2 is locked by a safety pin 15 which is withdrawn before the release of the bomb.
