Abstract
530,333. Vehicle rest-bars. MORRISON, C. W. June 21, 1939, No. 18059. I[Class 108 (ii)] A single wheel assembly for attachment to the drawbar of a trailer comprises a swivel-mounted wheel 4, supporting bracket 3, wheel post 5 pivoted at 6 to a fixed bracket 7, and a link system consisting of an extension of the wheel post 9, a parallel link 10, and a link 13 also pivoted to the bracket 7 at 14, and means for moving the link system so as to allow of the wheel being raised or lowered. The links 10, 13 and the bracket 7 are preferably in pairs. In the form shown, the links 10 and 13 are connected to the pins 11 of a trunnion block 12 through which a screw 15 is threaded. The lower end of the screw is mounted to turn in a footstep bearing 18 which is pivoted to the brackets 7. Rotation of the screw causes the links 10, 13 which act as toggle links to move backwards and forwards, thus raising or lowering the wheel bracket. The drawbar is preferably of V-shape formation and the apex is provided with a vertical plate having holes 22 for the vertical adjustment of a coupling member 23.
