530,315. Seats. CHAPMAN, A. W. June 5,1939, No. 16458. [Class 52 (ii)] A vehicle or like seat is tilted about a transverse axis near the front edges and is operated by a wedging device engaging with surfaces on the seat and its support. Fig. 1 shows a seat 7 pivoted on an axis 12 and adjusted by the ends of a rod 17 engaging with blocks 16 on the seat and inclined surfaces 15 on the base 14. The rod is operated by a screw 21 and handle 22 in the front of the seat. Instead of the blocks 16 the rod 17 may engage with a tubular frame carrying the seat. The ends of the rod may carry pinions engaging in racks. In a modification the screw 21 operates a wedge moving between rods on the seat and its supports. In a further modification the rod is moved by hand from one to another of a number of notches on the piece 15. Specification 518,062 is referred to.
