Abstract

527,190. Windows. LIPSETT, S. G. April 3, 1939, No. 10365. [Class 20 (iii)] The glass panels 7, 8 of a double insulating window are cemented together by an interposed plastic sealing composition 9, and the air-space 11 is provided with single vent tube 12 which is made sufficiently small to prevent excessive circulation of air and is fitted exteriorly with a filter cap Z7. The window frame comprises two L-shaped members 16, 17 with an interposed layer 21 of heat-insulating material. The edges of the glass panes are bedded in caulking compound 19 between the frame members. Impairment of the sealing compound 9 by the caulking compound 19 is prevented by a metal foil edging 34. Spacers 10, Fig. 5, are embedded in the sealing compound to prevent collapse of the window cell.
