Abstract

900,766. Glazing double pane panels. HILLS (WEST BROMWICH) Ltd. April 30, 1959 [May 1, 1958], No. 13836/58. Class 20 (3). In a multi-pane or like panel unit each pane or sheet interspace is sealed by a T-sectioned strip 3 of adhesive resilient bitumen rubber, the stem 3 being sandwiched between the marginal zones of the sheets 1, 2 and the flanges of the head 4 of less length than the width of the sheets, being located between and in abutment with the edges of the sheets and the channelsection frame 9 and the space between the said flanges of the head 4, the sheet edges and the flanges 7 of the frame 9 being filled with mastic 10 having negligible or no tensile strength and remaining resilient under cold climatic conditions ( - 40‹ F.). The frame 9 may have a rib 8 along each flange which abuts the external marginal zones of the sheets 1, 2 to trap the pliable material 10 in the marginal zone spaces. The stem of strip 3 may have an inner core 32, Figs. 5, 6, of the material 10 with a covering 31 of the material 3 and the head 4 being composed either of the material of the core, Fig. 5, or of the material of the core covering 31, Fig. 6.
