[Class 114] [Also in Groups XXVII and XXXV] In ships driven by internal combustion engines 1 through electrodynamic slip couplings 3, the coupling members connected to the ship propeller are each provided with a mechanical brake 8. The latter may be operated hydraulically or pneumatically by means of pistons and cylinders 9, 10 supplied with pressure fluid through a slide valve 13 controlled electrically by a solenoid 14 which is energized over contacts 15 when a manoeuvring handle 16 is in a position shutting off the fuel supply to the engines.
