479,058. Propeller gear for ships. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. July 31, 1936, No. 21197. Convention date, Jan. 23. [Class 114] A ship particularly designed for ice-breaking is provided with a screw propeller d at the bow and two stern propellers c<1>, c<2>. These are driven from internalcombustion engines e<1>, e<2> operating through mechanical gears f<1>, f<2>, m and hydraulic couplings o<1>, o<2> and h<1>, h<2>. The arrangement is such that the power can be divided between the three propellers or applied wholly to the after propellers, whilst the forward propeller can be driven alone either for forward or reverse running.
