Abstract
374,583. Steering gear. LYNN, D. C., 6, Nesburn Road, and LYNN & CO., Ltd., J., Pallion, both in Sunderland. May 1, 1931, No. 12846. [Class 114.] Hydraulic control mechanism applicable to ship steering gear, turbine governor gear, gun mountings, marine engine reversing gear, &c. comprises a crosshead 3 connected to the part to be actuated and to opposed rams 4 .. 7. The actuation of a reversible pump 29 or its equivalent causes a rise of pressure in a conduit 23 or 24, so that rams 18, 19 are actuated to cause a continually driven pump 17 to deliver to one or other of the cylinders 8, 9, and thus operate the crosshead. A relief valve 14 is provided, and a spring 30 may be inserted between the rams 6, 7 which are slidably supported in the crosshead.
