Abstract
525,639. Making axle housings for motor vehicles: GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 24, 1939, No. 6164. Convention date, March 11, 1938. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] Axle housings are formed from a clamped blank stamped to provide pairs of troughs 10 in the end portions, channels 11 in the central portion joining the end troughs, and four flanges 16, 17. The stamped blank is bent along the central longitudinal axis to fold the troughs together with the side edges in engagement for welding into a seam 20, Fig. 6.
