Abstract
525,600. Thermionic valve caps and holders. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd. June 5, 1939, No. 16481. Convention date, June 8, 1938. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XL] Relates to electric discharge tubes of the type in which the envelope is closed by a glass &c. member, preferably in the form of a plate or disc, which also serves as a carrier for the contact pins, and to holders for use in connection therewith. As shown in Fig. 1, the closure member 1 is formed by pressing around the contact pins 2 and is sealed by a flange to the bulb which may be also made by pressing from glass. A re-entrant part 3 is formed in the centre of the member 1 and is made of irregular shape to engage a metal locating member 5, Fig. 2, on the tube holder 8. which may consist of moulded material wholly or partly consisting of synthetic resin, fibrous material impregnated with such a resin, &c. The exhaust tube may open through the top of the re-entrant part, in which case the locating member must be provided. with an aperture to accommodate it. In a further modification, the locating member consists of a metal tube, cemented or otherwise secured in and projecting from the re-entrant part 3. A screen 9 may be disposed between the supply conductors inside the tube.
