523,667. Barium carbonate. LAPORTE, Ltd., B., WEBER, I. E. and WOOD, W. S. Dec. 14, 1938, No. 36435. [Class 1 (iii)] In the manufacture of barium carbonate by reaction between barium sulphite or sulphydrate and sodium carbonate or bicarbonate. the sodium carbonate is first treated with sodium sulphite to precipitate impurities. The barium sulphite also may be purified by treatment with an alkaline earth carbonate.
