Abstract

521,786. Diesel fuels. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. April 11, 1939, No. 10907. Convention date, July 23, 1938. [Class 91] Diesel hydrocarbon fuels are improved in ignition qualities by adding an organic compound containing a diazo-group and a carboxygroup in the molecule. Substances specified are:- diazo-acetic acids, esters, and salts, e.g., of mercury ; diazo-aceto-acetic esters ; and isomers andpoly mers thereof. 0.025-5.0 per cent. is a suitable addition, e.g., of α-diazo-propionic ethyl ester. Other improvers may be added.
