Abstract
519,342. Sliding-clasp fastenings. ZIPP FASTENER CO.. Ltd., and FRUNGEL, H. R. Sept. 20, 1938, No. 27473. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXII] The bottom stop for connecting the closed end of a sliding-clasp fastener consists of a member bridging the edges of the two tapes on one face of the fastener while upstanding from such member are two separated limbs. which pass between the two edges and engage their respective tape to grip the edge thereof between the limb and the member, the parts of the bottom stop being such that when flattened into one plane they form complementary parts of an area whereby the stops can be produced without waste from sheet metal. Fig. 3 shows a series of such stops lightly connected together along division lines 20 and adapted to be applied to a sliding- clasp fastener by a stapling machine. The bottom stop consists of an H-shaped member comprising two portions 1, 2 with a connecting piece 3 from which two separate limbs 4, 5 stand up, these limbs having heads 6, 7 and being formed by bending up the material from the gaps of the H-shaped member. The headed limbs 4, 5 are bent over their respective beaded edges 24, 25 of the tapes.
