519,019. Battery lamps. RANSFORD, A. J. (Chak, C. C.). Aug. 13, 1938, No. 23946. [Class 39 (ii)] A magazine electric torch consists of a battery chamber 28 with switch 8 and a multiple lamp and resistance chamber 4 containing an eccentrically mounted casing 22 rotated from outside by a lever 7 having a toothed sector engaging with a toothed wheel on the spindle of the casing. The casing accommodates three lamps mounted in slidable carriers 14 and having depending contact pins. To renew a faulty lamp, its carrier is moved down from the active position shown by means of the external spring pin 6, the casing is rotated by the lever 7 to bring a new'lamp into the central line and lamp, and carrier are raised into the active position by the pin 6 the depending pin 16c on the carrier engaging the live battery contact 21. A wire resistance 13 engaged by the movable contact arm 17 operated by the button 5 enables the voltage to be adjusted to suit different lamps.
