Abstract
518,428. Submersible centrifugal pumps. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Aug. 25, 1938, No. 25014. Convention date, Oct. 6, 1937. [Class 110 (i)] In a rotary immersion pump, the axial thrust on the rotor shaft a' is counteracted by pressure on a disc c produced by an auxiliary pump e using auxiliary liquid, the pump e being placed above the disc c so as to deliver fluid to a chamber f which is separated from the main liquid being pumped only by the wall of the casing g to enable the heat generated in the auxiliary liquid to be readily transmitted to the main liquid. The disc c preferably forms part of the pump e.
