Abstract

517,377. Lampshade holders. OSLER, Ltd., F. & C., and BARNICUT, J. M. June 25, 1938, No. 18899. [Class 75 (ii)] A lighting fitting comprises a cylindrical member 7 flanged at its lower end 8 to support a globe 9 and having a flanged sleeve 11 to steady the globe adjustably mounted thereon, and a member 2 mounted above but spaced from the member 7 to provide ventilation for a lamp mounted within and adapted to be secured directly, e.g., by screws 6 or indirectly, e.g., by tubes or chains to a ceiling or other support. The flange 8 is elliptic so that it may be inserted through and yet support the open neck of the globe 9. To facilitate rewiring the lamp the members 2 and 7.may be (i) detachably secured together by screws 15, fig. 4, through the member 7 into lugs 14 on the member 2, or (ii) fixedly secured together and to a socket threaded on to a lamp holder supporting rod. depending from the ceilng, so that on rotating the fitting to unscrew it from the rod it may be lifted up above the lamp holder.
