Abstract
405,411. Lamps for illuminating machinery &c. ROBINSON & SON, Ltd., T., ROBINSON, C. J., and TWEEDALE, J., Railway Works, Rochdale. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29620. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iv).] Transformer lamps.-An electric lamp for localized illumination such as for a grinding wheel, lathe, &c., comprises in combination a metal shade or reflector 5 which exceeds the length of the electric bulb to be used with it sufficiently to hide the bulb from sight unless looked at almost directly from the open end, a lampholder 12 inside the closed end of the shade or reflector, and a transformer on the outside forming one unit with the shade or reflector, the transformer having at its end remote from the shade or reflector a connection member 15 or socket plug whereby the whole unit can be connected to the mains 16 to transform the current to a lower voltage. The reflector is secured by means of the lugs 7 to the back plate 8, which also carries the casing 9 containing the transformer. The primary and secondary coils of the transformer are separated by an insulating fireproof shield 10.
